Bert met Anneta Nickless (a city girl) in 1960 in Rich Hill, MO, and they were married on April Fool’s Day: April 1, 1961. They joked that they never quite figured out who got “fooled”. Bert & Anneta were blessed with three children: Lisa, Chris & Matt. On the farm, you never saw Bert far away from his Ford pickup or John Deere tractor. Bert was a Master Mason and a proud member of the Appleton City Masonic Lodge 412.
Bert is survived by his children Lisa (Mark) Stoddard of Lee’s Summit, MO, Christopher (Karen) Green of Appleton City, and Matthew (Ladonna) Green of Appleton City; grandchildren Amy (Jeff) Nold of Urich, MO, Ashlee Stoddard of Des Moines, IA, Brian (Sara) Green of Appleton City, Brett (Jessica) Stoddard of Kansas City, MO, Rachel Green of Kansas City, MO and Clinton Green of Appleton City; and his great grandchildren Braydon (Hannah), Austin (Jaidyn), Kaylean, Evalyn, Brilyn & Ellie. He also leaves behind his special friend Darlene Rosean and many nieces and nephews.
Bert was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Anneta, his parents Elmer & Ethel Green, siblings Evelyn Green, Eddie Green and Erma Wainscott, and brothers-in-law Mike Morris and Ron Wainscott.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 20th from 6pm-8pm with the funeral being held Wednesday June 21st at 1pm at the Hill & Sons Funeral Home in Appleton City.
