Obituary - Carol Ann (Thomas) Hacker

Carol Ann (Thomas) Hacker, 90, Nevada, MO passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. Carol was born February 15, 1933 near Horton, MO, at the home of her parents C.O. and Willa “Hughes” Thomas. She married Bob L. Hacker on October 15, 1965 in Nevada and he preceded her in death.

Carol was a lifelong resident of Vernon County and graduated from Nevada High School in 1951. Carol worked at Missouri Public Service for 16 years. She was a stay-at-home mom until her son Robert was in school. She then worked as Nevada United Methodist Church Secretary until her retirement in 1998. Carol was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, The Helping Hands Circle, and the NRMC Auxiliary. She also volunteered for Meals-on -Wheels.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Jake Claassen, Michael Hacker, Austin Hacker, and Kendra Hacker, and many nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Thomas, Raymore, MO. Her love was always family, and Sandy, Sharon, Rita, and Ken Hacker were her love and support for everything. “The Thomas’s are strung from coast to coast and in between. She loved them all.”

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob on Nov. 21, 2016 and three months later was preceded in death by her son, Robert Thomas Hacker; her parents; seven brothers, Charles Thomas, Runt Thomas, Coolie Thomas, Bill Thomas, Edward Thomas, Jim Thomas, and Darrell Thomas; three sisters, Mary Margaret Shumaker, Willa Marie Worley, and Sue Claypool; five sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Thomas, Maxine Thomas, and Catheryn Thomas, Polly Thomas, and Melba (Thomas) Edmonds; and three brothers-in-law, Ed Claypool, Henry Shumaker, and Dick Hendricks.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Bob Beaver officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dederick, MO. Friends may call from 8:00 am on Friday until the hour of service on Saturday.
