Rhoda Lynn Hoover, age 80 of Rich Hill, Missouri died Sunday, July 23, 2023 at her home. She was born March 6, 1943 to George Washington and Fern Eva Turner Duncan in Rich Hill.
Rhoda, one of three daughters, was a life long resident of Rich Hill, Missouri where she attended grade school and was a 1961 graduate of Rich Hill High School. She was a secretary at the Rich Hill High School for over 30 years until her retirement in 1998 and also worked at the Boys Youth Facility in Rich Hill. Rhoda was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church in Rich Hill where she served as pastor for many years. She also served on the Rich Hill School Board. On April 29, 1961 she married Gary Keith Hoover and to this union, two daughters were born.
Rhoda was known as a wonderful caring person who took care of others before herself, humble, a great wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to paint, play the piano and sing. Rhoda enjoyed singing in the Rich Hill Community Choir.
Rhoda is survived by her husband, Gary “Boots” Hoover of Rich Hill, Missouri; two daughters, Michelle Doty of Rich Hill, Missouri and Melissa Swarens and husband Shane of Rogersville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Karin Simmons, Michael Simmons and wife Christina, Rebekah Calvert and husband Danny, Ezekiel Doty and Jennifer Doty; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Kohl of Rich Hill, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Leeora Maye Duncan; three cousins, Eva Mae Sproule, Annie Hibbert and Carol Jean Welch; a son-in-law, Doug Doty; and a brother-in-law, James Kohl.
