Obituary - Charles Alvin Lindell

Charles Alvin Lindell age 94, Pleasanton, KS, died Friday, August 25, 2023. He was born on January 16, 1929 at Pleasanton, KS, the son of Frank Elmer and Adah Goodenough Lindell. He attended Fort Scott Junior College where he played basketball. 

In his high school years he played football and basketball and raced his horse at the Mound City Fairgrounds. On May 4, 1952, he married Doris LaJune Huckaby in Mound City, KS. He and Doris had a family farm for over 70 years, where they raised a multitude of livestock, dairy farmed and grew various crops. He was a member and elder of Pleasanton Christian Church. 

He enjoyed participating in his 5 children’s activities from 4-H, basketball, football, softball and Saddle Club. His involvement continued down through the years with the grandchildren. He also enjoyed sharing his love of the farm with all the kids, taking them fishing and riding in the pickup were a highlight all loved. He was known for his corny grandpa jokes. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, Francis Lindell, and a great grandson, Oliver. He is survived by 2 sons, Dennis Lindell and Brian Lindell (Heather) of Raymore, MO, and 3 daughters, Debbie Harkleroad (Marty) of Overland Park, KS, Karen Cobb (David) of Stilwell, KS, and Nancy Keeton (Craig) of Spokane, WA, 1 brother Vernon Lindell (Roberta), and 1 sister Ruth Winterscheidt, 12 grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley, Michael, Jennifer, Amanda, Laura, Maria, Christine, Jessica, Craig, Taylor, and Keaton, 14 great-grandchildren, Bryce, Joshua, Lane, Cameron, Abbigale, Henry, Elizabeth, Avery, Levi, Kate, Riley, Grace, Charlie & McKenna, and 2 great-great grandchildren, Tobi & Leon. We are ending this obituary with Dad’s customary greeting of, “God Bless You!”

A gathering to celebrate Charles's life will be 2 pm Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.
