Linda Carol (Eador) Hurst passed away on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at Moore-Few Care Center following a lengthy illness. Linda was born on November 26, 1946 to Mary M. (Beason) Thorburn-Eador and W. Burgess Eador. Linda was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1964. Linda married Joe H. Hurst on September 4, 1964 at the Community of Christ Church where she was a member. They were together for 59 happy years and he survives of the home.
Linda’s greatest joy was her family. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and would happily tell you all about them and their accomplishments if you asked. She was never happier than when the family was coming to visit and spend the day.
Linda worked for Tuf-Nut, a division of Key Industries in Nevada and then transferred to Fort Scott, Kansas to continue working for the company after Tuf-Nut closed. She was with Key Industries for 24 years. After she retired from Key, Linda ran an in-home day-care for about 14 years. The children she cared for were “adopted” and loved like grandchildren. They would have weekend sleepovers and go on special day trips for the children’s birthdays. As they got older, many of them still came by to visit “Nana Linda and Papa Joe”.
She was a very giving person and enjoyed doing special things for those she cared about. She loved holidays and making them extra special. Several years back Linda, with Joe’s help, planned Halloween parties for the young people at church. She also loved hosting extra special Christmas parties for her daycare families. The last couple of years before she became ill, Linda spent many happy hours putting together and wrapping Christmas gifts that she donated for underprivileged children.
Linda is survived by her husband Joe; daughter, Christina Compton, Nevada; son, Brad Hurst and wife Sherry, Nevada; five grandchildren: Samantha Leininger and husband Jordan,Nevada, Reba Rapp and husband Chris, Rockville, Ashleigh Compton, Brandon Compton, and Justin Hurst and wife Meagan, Nevada; and five great-grandchildren: Makaylee, Xander, Taygan, Zakary and Ralin; Sister, Roberta Miller, Blue Springs, Missouri; Sister-in-Law, Julie Hurst, East-Wenatchee, Washington, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
