Charlotte Ann Hon, 89, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Aspire Senior Living in Excelsior Springs, MO. Funeral services will be held at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville at 11:00am on Saturday, November 4, 2023, with visitation from 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to The Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Charlotte was born April 3, 1934 in Rockport, MO, a daughter of Thomas Claude and Glenda Wilhelmina (Voltmer) Morgan. Charlotte attended Belle Plain Rural School #61, graduated 8th grade at Prospect Rural School # 88, and graduated from Harrisonville High School with the class of 1952.
Charlotte married Robert Francis Hon on March 15, 1952 at the Baptist Church parsonage in Harrisonville. She worked at the USDA office in Harrisonville for 28 years, serving as manager for 15 years, before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Antioch Southern Baptist Church in Harrisonville; a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Club; a member of the Beta Sigma Phi service organization who assisted with February Heart fund drives; and she had served on the Cass County Sheltered Workshop Board until moving to Branson in 1988 where she and Bob lived for 14 years. They then moved to Excelsior Springs in December of 2001 and on to Richmond, TX in December of 2009, where they lived until returning to Excelsior Springs in October of 2021.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Lee, on December 16, 1966; her husband, Robert Francis Hon, on May 10, 2022; and a brother, Herman Lewis Morgan. She is survived by two daughters: Becky Tompkins, Excelsior Springs, MO; and Rachelle Solomon, Plattsburg, MO; four grandchildren: Nathan Tompkins (Marina), Paul Tompkins (Amber), Christopher Tompkins and Lora Tompkins; and two great-granddaughters, Jade Tompkins and Hailey Tompkins.
