Gene was born November 20th, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri to his loving parents Ronnie Humbird and Mary Richardson. He grew up along side his 3 younger brothers, Randy (Holly) Humbird, Rickie Humbird, and Rusty Humbird. They enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sports. Gene followed in his father’s footsteps and worked in Sod most of his life. He met many amazing friends along the way and fell in love with Mardi at a very young age.
They were high school sweethearts who got married on October 26th, 1986, and would go on to have their two children, Crystal (Mike) Regan and Kyle (Amanda) Humbird. Gene was so unbelievably talented in so many ways. He was an amazing artist, carpenter, guitarist, and all-around humble guy who would give you the shirt off his back and never ask for anything in return. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Loved rock music, both listening to and playing it with his many bands over the years.
He loved playing pool with his late wife Mardi, family, and friends. Even if Mardi would win most of the time. He enjoyed playing golf with his son, brothers, and friends. Would never turn down a chance to go fishing with his family. He would never stay in just one place and would walk the entire way around any good fishing hole. There are so many things my dad loved but his grandson Gabe and his family were always top of the list!
This is why it’s with a heavy heart we say goodbye to such an amazing Son, Brother, Father, Pop-Pop, and friend. Rest easy with your love Mardi as you two are reunited once again. We must remember this isn’t goodbye, it’s until we meet again.
