LaFrances C. “Frannie" Winter of Garden City, MO entered into eternal rest in heaven on December 30, 2023. Frannie was born in Harrisonville, MO on December 18, 1945 to Robert “Bob” William and Dorothy Carol (Lacy) Cassody. She was united into marriage with her husband Edward, of nearly 50 years on January 31, 1965.
Frannie graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1963. She attended Central Missouri State University. She was a school teacher in one-room schoolhouses No. 9 and Dayton, both in Cass County Missouri. She stayed at home and raised her four children including leading Girls Scouts, helping with 4-H, teaching Bible School and being a church camp counselor, before returning to work as a medical transcriptionist. In retirement, she spent much time with her husband, children and grandchildren, and later volunteered at the Training Center Christian School, the Shepherd Staff Food Pantry and with many church activities.
Frannie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2020. God blessed us with almost four more years with her. She had an incredible testimony for the Lord with her cancer treatment and healing which she openly shared with almost everyone she met. She wanted everyone to know that Jesus loves them and loved telling people this, up to the last day that she was able to do so.
She was a social butterfly who loved her family and friends greatly. She loved to take road trips, short or long, and enjoyed many such trips with friends and family.
Frannie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a grandson Dalton Wheeler. She is survived by her children: John Winter, Sally (Jim) Bradley, Cammie (Joseph) Shaffer and Bryan (Michelle Wheeler) Winter, daughter-in-law: Vickie Winter, as well as 12 grandchildren: Travis Beasley, Eric Beasley, Annde’ Berryman, John Michael Winter, Jessica Brownson, Cory Pastorino, Whitney Wirsig, Emilee Wheeler, Blake Shaffer, Wyatt Winter, Maranda Shaffer and Gabe Winter; and 12 great grandchildren: Chase Beasley, McKenna Beasley, Kaitlyn Beasley, Aaden Beasley, Bentley Winter, Kinzley Winter, Bradley Berryman, Hadley Winter, Charley Winter, Scarlett Berryman, Bellamy Shaffer and Elliott Naylor; three sisters: Ann (Russ) Day, Shirley (Harold) Kershner and Robin (Larry) Smith; brother/sisters-in law: William (Kay) Winter and Judy Winter; and many friends.
