Life Saving Award presented by Vernon County Ambulance!

Sometimes we are asked, why is a fire truck at a medical call? A couple years ago it was agreed upon that the fire department would start being called automatically with the ambulance to most medical emergencies. This puts a minimum of four people on scene able to help a person within just a few minutes. When the ambulance is called to someone who is very sick or injured the extra hands can be needed.

Last month VCAD and NFD were called to a facility in town for an unresponsive diabetic patient, upon the fire departments arrival they found the patient not breathing and in full cardiac arrest. Medical care was immediately rendered by members of B-Shift. VCAD arrived shortly there after and ALS care was started. After this team effort by both entities the patient regained a pulse and is now recovering back in Nevada after being discharged from the hospital. This kind of team effort is how we all strive to provide the best care possible to the community we serve.

Congratulations, left to right
