Suspect taken into custody in connection with shooting and armed robbery in Pittsburg Kansas

According to a release from the Pittsburg Kansas Police Department, on Wednesday, January 24th, just after 1:30 p.m., the Pittsburg Police Department received a report of an armed robbery that had occurred at a residence on 4th Street Circle in Pittsburg. 

The victim reported that a person known to him, and a second unknown male suspect, came into his residence and held him at gunpoint.

The victim said the two men stole items from him and then fled the residence on foot. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspects at that time, but identified one of the suspects as 30 year old Wesley Burgess of Pittsburg, who was also the suspect in an early morning shooting on December 29th.

On Friday, January 26th, Burgess was located at a residence in Chanute, Kansas and was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Crawford County Jail. For December's shooting, Burgess faces charges of aggravated battery and criminal discharge of a firearm.

Mr. Burgess also faces charges of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and theft for the crimes allegedly committed in January.

The second suspect involved in the January 24th robbery incident remains unidentified at this time.
