Butler baseball falls in first game of the season

The Butler Bears Varsity Baseball Team opened the season today with a loss 10-4 against the Lamar Tigers in the annual Lamar Classic Baseball Tournament.

Lamar got on the board in the top of the first inning after Alex Wilkerson tripled scoring two runs, and Korbin Steinkamp doubled scoring 1 run.

Pitching for the bears was senior Maddox Fennewald the right hander surrendered three hits and three runs (two earned)over four and one third innings. He struck out seven and walked only one.

Junior Brayden Jackson led the bears with two runs batted in from the nine spot in the lineup. Maddox Fennewald and Sophomore Cohen Wilson both collected two hits on the day for the bears. Fennewald stole two bases in the game and also Butler turned one double play.

Trent Torbeck provided the pop for the tigers in the middle of the line-up with four runs batted in. Butler will take on Diamond tomorrow at Lamar.
