Butler lady bears softball team suffered their first loss of the season tonight at Adrian

The Adrian blackhawks defeated the Butler Bears 18-3 on Friday thanks in part to 12 runs in the third inning. The blackhawks were the first to get on the board in the first inning when Olivia Hughes grounded out, scoring one run.

Adrian scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored one run, Lizzie Clifton singled, scoring one run, Madyson Shaffer singled, scoring one run.

The blackhawks scored 12 runs on six hits in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored one run, another scored one run, Shaffer doubled, scoring one run, an error scored another run, Kaydence Enos singled, scoring one run, Chloe Nelson doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored yet another three runs, and Hughes doubled, scoring one run.

Kylee Dubray stepped in the circle first for the lady bears. The starting pitcher surrendered 11 hits and 18 runs (three earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. 

Enos led things off for the lady blackhawks. The right-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out three and walking two.

Taylor Hudson drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Bears with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-2 on the day.

The blackhawks amassed 11 hits in the game. Clayton, Nelson, and Shaffer each drove in two runs. Hughes, Nelson, and Shaffer each drove in two hits for Adrian. The Lady blackhawks ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. 

Adrian was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Shaffer made the most plays with six. The Butler Lady bears will welcome the Warsaw Wildcats on Monday for their next game.
