'Temporary' city council work through important issues

This morning Butler high school students assumed the roles of the Butler city council in a mock session held at city hall and worked through issues much the same as those in actual sessions. This included a dog dispute, a fence problem and a very real topic- how students can work to get a soda machine back into the high school.

The hour long session was hosted by City Administrator Corey Snead along with 'citizens' Doncella Liggins, Carmen Behringer, Don Hastings, Jerret Wheatley, Marlene Wainscott, Scott Mallat, Denny Rich, Jason Bennett, Malachi Hoover, Trent Diehl and Mayor Jim Henry, as well as a room full of spectators.

Following the session there was a drawing for prizes and a delicious lunch for all at Tu Casa.

ONE TOUGH COOKIE 'citizen' Doncella Liggins plead her case to the council regarding a neighborhood dog determined to disrupt her life. The council listened and responded accordingly in a mock session held today for Butler high school students at city hall.
