Bottom Of The Lineup Carries Butler Bears Baseball Team Past Liberal...

The bottom of the lineup helped Butler Varsity Bears capture a 10-6 victory over Liberal on Monday. 

Senior Cameron Anderson, Junior Brayden Jackson, and Sophomore Brock Lines combined for four of the team's seven hits in the victory. They scored three runs and drove in three. 

Butler Bears jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Sophomore Brandon Hammett singled, scoring one run, a wild pitch scored two runs, and Lines doubled, scoring one run. 

An error, a single by Anderson, and a single by Jake Chandler helped the Bears extend their early lead in the third. Liberal scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh on a home run to right field.

Senior Maddox Fennewald earned the win for Butler Varsity Bears. The right-handed pitcher allowed eight hits and six runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking two. 

Number nine hitter, Anderson, showed the depth of the Butler Bears lineup, by leading them with two hits in four at bats. Fennewald paced the bears  with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Fennewald stole two bases. 

Butler Varsity Bears ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. The Bears play at home on Tuesday against Nevada Varsity Tigers in their next game.
