Nevada Baseball Team gets win tonight in state playoffs

The Aurora Varsity Houn Dawgs Baseball Team fell 7-3 to Nevada Varsity Tigers on Tuesday despite out-hitting them eight to six. 

Matthew Cutbirth, Max Holland, and Sean Creasey each collected two hits for Houn Dawgs. The Tigers opened the scoring in the first after a passed ball scored one run. 

Nevada added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Caden Klumpp singled, and Kellen Braden walked, each scoring one run. Aurora the game in the top of the third thanks to a double by Creasey, and a fielder's choice by Cutbirth.

The Tigers made the score 7-3 in the bottom of the fourth after Klumpp singled, scoring two runs, Kellan Ast drew a walk, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run. 

Klumpp earned the win for Nevada. He gave up one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one. 

Jayden Carpenter took the loss for Aurora. The starting pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out eight and walking seven. Graham Walker started the game for Nevada Tigers, he allowed five hits and three runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Creasey drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Houn Dawgs with two runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-4 on the day.

Klumpp provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Nevada with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. The Tigers had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Drake Ketterman and Barrett Nadurata led the team with two free passes each. 

Nevada will now move onto play the Blair Oaks Falcons on May 23rd. We would like to wish the tigers the best of luck.
