Obituary - Oakley Ray Pruitt

Oakley Ray Pruitt age 94 of Peculiar, Missouri passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024 at his home in Peculiar, Missouri surrounded by his loving children.

He was born in Allendale, Kentucky on March 16, 1930 son of Carsmer M. Pruitt and Ida Belle Pruitt Walker.

On October 13, 1951 Oakley Ray was united in marriage to Louise Ann (Golubski) Pruitt at Camp Chaffie, Arkansas.t

On June 18, 1952 Ray was drafted into the United States Army and served his country in Korean War.

Oakley Ray made a career in the produce industry mainly for the Yukon Brothers in Kansas City, Missouri. With Ray’s inability to relax he spent his retirement years helping his son in the plumbing industry at the Plumbers Friend in Kansas City, Missouri.

Oakley Ray was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed doing maintenance and upgrades to his home and acreage and raising farm animals. He loved country music, antique clocks and his 1928 Model A. He never passed up a good day of fishing. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Louise Ann Pruitt; infant son Robert Ray Pruitt; a brother Gerald Pruitt; two sisters Jeanetta Mandrell and Louise Darrah. In laws Anthony and Julia Golubski. Brother in laws Anthony Golubski Jr.; Clarence Golubski; William McMahon; Richard Darrah and Joe Mandrell. Sister in laws Ann Golubski and Barbara Golubski.

Oakley Ray is survived by four daughters and one son. Linda Strong and husband Ron of Graden City, Missouri; Darlene Ahner of Raymore, Missouri; Kathy Curtis and husband Kelly of Peculiar, Missouri; Brenda Reinholdt and husband Roger of Peculiar, Missouri and Thomas Pruitt and wife Ruby of Peculiar, Missouri. Brother in law Edward Golubski of Paola, Kansas; Sister in laws Judy Pruitt of Peculiar, Missouri; Betty McMahon of Overland Park, Kansas. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City , Missouri.
