Douglas “Doug” Lynn Davis, age 68 of Adrian, Missouri died Friday, May 31, 2024 at his home. He was born April 29, 1956 to Edward Charles and Marjorie Ellen Thompson Davis, the second of four
children in Rochester, Indiana.

Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." This verse was a driving force in Doug's life. While attending the First Baptist Church of Mentone, Indiana, he gave his life to Christ and was later baptized in the same church. Doug always said it was the single most important decision of his life. He graduated from Allen High School in Bluffton, Indiana in 1974. He continued his education at the ITT in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he completed a three year degree in two years graduating in 1976. The following year Doug made a trip to the tiny town of Adrian to visit a friend who had relocated to the area. It was on that trip that he met Susan Arnold. A whirlwind romance, and they were married in September of 1977. To this union five children were born, and over their 44 years together, they welcomed five grandchildren.

Doug worked for various businesses, specializing in appliance repair, even having his own business for a time. He found his vocation at Bindex, now known as Honeywell, where he retired with 35 years of service in 2017. Doug suffered a massive stroke in December of 2017, which limited his abilities and changed the course of retirement, but he was still able to enjoy his family and take some trips in his later years. Doug was a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Adrian Missouri for more than 45 years. Serving in many ways from treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, music, working with the youth and children's ministries, maintaining the sound equipment, and helping with various building projects. Doing all things through Christ and for God's glory.

Doug was also very active in the community, being a member of the Adrian Rural Fire Department and a member of the Western Missouri Antique Tractor Association. His delight was fine tuning the old steam truck for the parade and to lead the gospel sing along in the church with Susan. Doug had many hobbies. He loved to shoot in the back yard and even had a reloading system at home. Doug made the best smoked BBQ ribs, and he loved to go to the local car shows with his 1967 Cougar. Doug was a wonderful provider and family man. He had many great friends over the years. We are rejoicing in his home going and being reunited with Susan. We sorrow not, as those who have no hope, for we have the peace and assurance of being reunited again one day.

Doug is survived by five children, Luke Davis and wife Alexandra of Colville, Washington, Benjamin Davis of Adrian, Missouri, Rachel Davis of Amoret, Missouri, Sarah Davis and husband Jim of Kansas City, Missouri and Faith Hutchens and husband Matthew of Adrian, Missouri; five grandchildren, Colton Davis, Avery Davis, Hannah Hutchens, Levi Hutchens and William Davis; and three siblings, Robert Davis and wife Remdios, Sherri Harter and husband Ted and Andrew Davis and wife Cindy all of Bluffton, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Susan Arlene Arnold Davis on January 10, 2022.
