He was especially fond of his Arabian horse, Amigo. He worked as a welder at Ruskins Manufacturing in Paola, Kansas from 1980-1984. After 1984, he worked for Junior Mooney building houses for several years. He worked for Midwest Woodworking in La Cygne for several years. He was self-employed for a number of years raising pigs.
Jim worked with Gilliland Lawn Service for a period of time. He then worked at Family Center in Paola, Kansas for five years, before retiring earlier this year. Jim was a very talented carpenter and built furniture for himself and other in his spare time. He loved living the rural farm life, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by his sister, Janet and husband, Randy, three nephews, Eric Reese, Brandon Reese and Joey Reese, a niece, Bri Sweat, four great nephews, Colton, Cooper, Leo and Bobby, three great nieces, Mackenzie, Jacy and Luna, and several aunts, uncles and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:45 am, Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.
