Warsaw man killed after two vehicle accident in Benton County

On Friday June 14th around 4:22 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Benton County along with Benton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident in the northbound lanes of US-65 Highway at Route BB in rural Benton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the westbound 2017 Ford Fusion driven by 90 year old Homer D. May of Warsaw, Missouri crossed into the path and stuck a northbound 2006 Pontiac G6 driven by 18 year old Sarah J. Gilbert of Warsaw.

Mr. May was flown by LifeFlight to the Bothwell Regional Medical Center in Sedalia, where he was later pronounced dead by a doctor at 6:36 p.m. The driver of the Pontiac was not injured in the crash.

This is the 38th fatality for MSHP Troop A in 2024. Next of kin notified.
