The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the eastbound 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by 40 year old Charles R. Hatton of Adrian, Missouri travelled off the right side of the roadway to avoid an impact then was struck by an unknown vehicle.
After the impact the Avalanche returned back to the roadway, crossed the centerline and struck a guardrail before rolling down an embankment and coming to rest on its side in a creek.
Mr. Hatton sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported by private vehicle to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver of the 2nd vehicle fled the scene of this crash. If anyone has any information please contact Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
