Dr. Curtis W. Long Recognized for Donation to Infusion Center at Bates County Memorial Hospital....
Bates County Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the now completed infusion center will be named Dr. Curtis W. Long, MD and Gay L. Nissen, RN Infusion Center in recognition of generous contributions by Dr. Long through the Bates County Community Health Foundation to improve cancer care and other infusion services for Bates County and surrounding communities. The Long-Nissen Infusion Center will open for patient care on July 17, 2024.
BCMH has been hard at work on the project over the past year to provide infusion treatments to more patients. When renovations were nearly completed, Dr. Long approached BCMH and the Foundation with his desire to make a significant donation to the infusion center. Dr. Long wanted to help others in the community with his contribution, and he wanted to include Gay Nissen in the name of the Infusion Center to honor her for 40+ years serving patients as his assistant nurse.
"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Long for his generous donation to the infusion center,” said Greg Weaver, CEO at BCMH. “His contribution, along with the support of our other esteemed donors, plays a crucial role in advancing our mission to provide exceptional care and support to our patients. Your generosity empowers us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment."
“Over the past 15 years our Outpatient Services and infusions have grown tremendously,” said Ann Donnohue, RN, Outpatient Specialty Clinic Manager. “A big part of our growth has come from the local community's support including patrons, past physicians, nursing staff, Bates County Community Health Foundation, and our hospital’s Board of Directors. Throughout the building project, many of us have said, 'it takes a village.' Some may take this statement lightly, but it is the truth. Without the support of our community and staff, this vision could not have become a reality. We will be able to continue our growth by providing outpatient IV antibiotic therapy, allergy
injections, injections and infusions for various disease processes and preventative medication management, as well as chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Being able to provide quality treatments and therapy to our community locally is our goal at BCMH. We are so thankful for Dr. Long and his lifetime commitment to the Bates County community, his generous donation will help support our continued efforts to keep healthcare local and close to home.”
BCMH invites the public to the Open House for the Dr. Curtis W. Long, MD and Gay L. Nissen, RN Infusion Center on Sunday, July 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. The Long-Nissen Infusion Center is located at 615 W. Nursery Street in Butler, with access through the Emergency entrance.
