Obituary - Robert (Bob) Elijah Jones

Robert (Bob) Elijah Jones was born September 6, 1944 to Elijah and Anna May Jolly Jones. Bob was baptized as a child and was a lifelong member of Trinty Lutheran Church where he is still a member.

Bob graduated from Clinton high school in 1962. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy where he spent the next four years serving his country on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Independence. He was assigned to fighter squadron 41, where he was an aircraft mechanic.

Bob returned home to Clinton MO. after his honorable discharge from the Navy, where he met the love of his life, Evonne Schweer, on a blind date.

On June 1, 1968 he married Evonne, and to this union they were blessed with two sons; Christopher Robert and Travis Neal.

In July 1977, Bob and Evonne built their forever home in Appleton City on the family farm.

Bob worked for Peabody coal company until 1983, then worked as a plumber and electrician until he was hired at the United States post office, where he retired. He loved to spend time with Evonne, fishing, spending time with family, attending grandchildren activities, and later in life, riding his Harley many miles through the beautiful United States, and playing in pool tournaments.

Bob is survived by his sons, Chris and wife Dee Dee Jones of Olathe KS., Travis and wife Lana Jones of Harrisonville MO; grandchildren: Taylor and husband James Stafford of Garden City MO., Cody Jones and fiancé Kimberly Ransdell of Raytown MO., Tijen Jones of Falls Church VA., Autumn Jones of St. Petersburg FL; two sisters, Peggy Cox, Francis and husband Larry Trenary; one brother, Roy and wife Penny Jones all of Clinton MO.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous friends and raucously caring, good friend Mike Schooley.

Funeral services will be Wednesday August 7th at 11pm at the Hill & Sons Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri. Memorial contributions suggested to St. Croix Hospice
