Roy was born August 1, 1939, to Temple Estes & Emily (Griffith) Estes in their home in rural Bates County, MO. He grew up in the rural Adrian area & attended elementary school at Silverdale & Merwin; Miami High School as a freshman and sophomore, then Adrian High School where he graduated in 1957. He spent many years raising his Limousin cattle & alfalfa hay on their farm. In "retirement" he worked driving school buses for Sharon until they both retired & began spending winters in Texas. He loved playing fast-pitch softball, spending time on the golf course & traveling across the country in their RV. He was a member of the Adrian VFW & attended the First Baptist Church of Adrian. He also cherished the time he could spend with family, especially spoiling his grandchildren & watching them grow up to become wonderful adults.
