Michelle Louise Spohn of Creighton, Missouri left this earth on November 21, 2024. She was born on February 1, 1969 in Princeton, Illinois. She attended Walnut Community High School before earning her Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement Administration from Western Illinois University in 1990.
Michelle most recently worked for Henry County Children's Division as a Case Worker. Her friends at work remember her as selfless, strong, fun, and fiercely loyal with a servant's heart of gold. She was “the protector of the children” and fought tirelessly for what is right. “If Michelle was in your corner, you knew you would get through.”
Michelle not only had a passion for helping people, but animals too. She had always been a pet person. She spent much of her free time volunteering at the Clinton Animal Shelter, fostering dogs in need, and spending time with her own pups. She joked about her dogs being her babies after her two real babies grew up.
Michelle loved traveling and exploring new places with her girls, her favorite always being a quiet day at the beach. It didn't matter which one as long as the sand was warm. Michelle's adventurous and fun-loving spirit always made for fond memories in every trip. Her next journey, which she was most excited for, was to become “Mimi” to her first grandbaby.
Michelle is preceded in death by her father Andrew (Andy) Spohn, Jr. She was survived by: her two daughters Lindsey (Jack) Milzarek and Jessica (Christopher) Wright, her soon-to-be grandson, her mother Sharon Spohn, her grandmother Jane Harris, and her brothers Mike (Jessica) Spohn and Matthew (Consuelo) Spohn.
If you knew Michelle, you knew she was a very private person. She never wanted the spotlight, and when it happened to shine on her you would like see her blush and say, “that's embarrassing,” through a smile. For this reason, we do not believe Michelle would have wanted a formal service to mourn her loss. Here are a few ideas her daughters believe would be a perfect way to honor Michelle and celebrate her life:
*Donate to, volunteer at, or foster an animal from your local shelter.
*Volunteer at Foster Adopt Shop in Clinton, Missouri, or at a similar non-profit that supports foster families.
*Go get yourself a fancy iced coffee (or a sweet treat–something chocolatey), turn on Food Network or TLC, and toast to her.
*Buy a plant and attempt to keep the leaves green for as long as possible.
*Visit a sunflower field.
*On your next trip to the beach, lay in a hammock or a comfy lounge chair and read your favorite thriller. While you're there, make sure to take a picture of the sunset. She loved that.
Please let her daughters, Lindsey and Jessica, know how you choose to celebrate their mother and best friend.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
