Obituary - Bill Carson Crawford


Bill Carson Crawford, 78, a lifelong resident of Nevada, MO, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, January 31, 2025. On Wednesday morning he had entered Medicalodges of Nevada for Hospice care. He had been battling cancer for the past couple of years. His beloved wife of 50 years, Linda Sue (Ellerman) Crawford was at his side. Also leaving behind is his son Nicholas Crawford of the home.

Bill was born March 25, 1946 in Nevada, MO to Billy Bob and Anna M. (Hogan) Crawford. He graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1965. During his high school years, Bill worked at Firestone, and later worked for Ellis Furniture, and Tom’s Flooring laying carpet. During this time, he started his own business “Crawford Cleaning” and cleaned businesses around Nevada. He also mowed lawns in the summer and removed snow in the winter. Bill was also a volunteer fireman for Nevada Fire Department for 32 years. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed making things look good.

Bill was an avid NASCAR fan was well as being a St. Louis Cardinal’s fan. He enjoyed watching car shows when he was younger and putting models together and collecting them. Bill attended Heritage Baptist Church for a time before going to the United Methodist Church in Nevada where he also worked for 41 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother: Billy Bob and Anna Crawford, and a brother-in-law, Freddie Perkins. In addition to his wife Linda and his son Nicholas, he leaves behind four brothers and three sisters: Bobby Crawford and his wife Caryn of Somerville, TX, Forrest Crawford, Neosho, MO, Todd Crawford and his wife Shannon, Nevada, MO, Tracy Crawford, Webb City, MO, Joanna (Crawford) Perkins, Springfield, MO, Sedda Crawford, Nevada, MO, and Cathy (Crawford) Hyder and her husband Danny, Springfield, MO; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

A short memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation following until 6:00 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
