Blackhawks and Odessa goes in Extra Innings

The Adrian Blackhawks partook in the Holden State Farm Classic last week. For their first game of the Classic, the Blackhawks sward off against the 7-5 Odessa Bulldogs.

The Blackhawks gave up 2 runs in the top of the first of off an RBI double and a sacrifice ground out form the Bulldogs. Adrian would answer back with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Adrian first got on the board when Vandenberg worked a walk with bases loaded, shortly after which Hamilton would pop up and score Fredlow on the sac fly.

The second inning was fairly quiet with both teams being held scoreless. Odessa would score off an Adrian error to go up 3-2. But the Blackhawks wouldn’t be outdone, as they would answer back with 2 run bomb by Bryler Ford to reclaim a 4-3 advantage.

In the 6th inning, the Bulldogs score on another error by Adrian, knotting the ballgame up at 4 each. The game would remain tied after the 7th inning, so we would head into extras!

The Bulldogs scored a run in the top of the 8th, forcing the Blackhawks to score at least one to continue playing, 2 to win. And the Blackhawks answered the call, scoring 2 runs to walk off the game in the 8th and claim a 6-5 win in the opening game of the Classic!

Bryler and Brock Ford both went 2 of 3 in the contest, with Bryler recording 2 RBIs on his Homerun shot. Kobe Enos was the other Blackhawk to record a hit for Adrian.

The Blackhawks struck out a total of 12 Bulldogs in the game, 9 at the hands of Brock who went in 5 innings, and then Cole Hamilton came in and struck out 3.

Adrian would end up going 1-2 in the classic, falling to Knob Knoster (2-3) and Clinton (3-11).
