The Butler Bears track and field team continued its dominant season with a strong showing at the sectional meet in Archie this past Saturday, qualifying four athletes for the upcoming MSHSAA State Championships on May 23 and 24.
The Bears not only punched multiple tickets to state, but also added five new personal records (PRs) and celebrated the 15th school record broken this season — a testament to the team’s remarkable momentum.
Kylee Dubray led the way, earning the title of Sectional Champion in the discus with a throw of 40.85 meters, setting both a new personal best and a new school record. Dubray also secured a second-place finish in the shot put, qualifying for state in two events.
The Bears claimed two additional sectional titles: Tandee Hiser cleared 3.40 meters in the pole vault, and Jake Chandler won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.35 seconds. Chandler also placed third in the 200-meter dash, securing his second event at state.
Other top finishes included Brandon Hammett, who took second in the 1600-meter run and third in the 3200-meter run, rounding out a deep and competitive day for Butler.
With continued momentum and record-breaking performances behind them, the Bears are poised to make a strong statement at the state meet in Jefferson City.
