The swine judge for the Bates County Jackpot is Walker McDermott from Wiota, Iowa. He grew up exhibiting cattle, sheep, and pigs at the state and national levels. Walker attended Iowa State University, earning a degree in Agricultural Studies while continuing to raise and show cattle. He is a co-owner of Refresh Livestock with his sister and brother-in-law, who focus on raising competitive show heifers among various breeds.
He owns Walker McDermott Media and can often travel the country, taking sale photos of cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. Walker said, “I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to sort shows across the Midwest and work with numerous awesome juniors.” In his little free time, he enjoys working with customers on their livestock and sharing knowledge to grow the next generation of show livestock enthusiasts!
