Doris was born on January 28, 1948, to Earl and Martha (Boag) McGuire in Butler, MO. Doris grew up on the family farm north of Butler, where she enjoyed the peace of rural life. She loved hearing the sounds of nature, such as the birds singing, coyotes howling, and the bullfrogs in harmony in the pond; all of it was music to her soul. In her young days, she attended Shady Dell Rural School through 8th grade, where she never missed a day. She then attended Butler High School and graduated with the class of 1966.
Doris worked at Glenn's Café in Butler, MO, as a dishwasher and part-time fry cook. She later moved to Kansas City and began her 35-year career at the Community Blood Center. There, she made many lasting friendships, many of which she still met monthly for breakfast dates long after her retirement. In her younger years, Doris enjoyed going to square dances with the Plaza Singles Club. She met Remy Blanchaert in 1998, and they were dear companions for 23 years before his passing in 2021. She then moved to Adrian, MO, in February of 2022, to be close to her childhood home and her cousin, Mary. After moving to Adrian, she enjoyed monthly breakfasts with her church group and lunches with grade school classmates. Doris loved the small town living where she was able to get to know several people through attending Bible Studies or volunteering at Frontier Village. Doris cared for and loved animals of all kinds, from her horses in her youth to her loved dogs, Tippy and Buddy, and made sure her bird feeders were always full. She also loved her flowers and was always finding new ones to plant on her back deck and taking photos and sharing those memories with her friends. Doris loved listening to music, especially Chris LeDoux and Jim Reeves.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Robert Earl McGuire and infant David Wayne McGuire. She is survived by many cousins and friends and will be missed by all.
