Motorcycle rider succumbs to injuries following collision with train

Around 3:30 pm on October 3rd, first responders were dispatched to county road 3002 at the railroad crossing north of Amoret on a report that a train had struck a motorcycle, ejecting the rider.

Marvin Rogers, 68, of Amoret sustained serious injuries and was flown by medial helicopter to Research Hospital in Kansas City however, was taken off life support on the following Sunday, October 5th.

Concerns have been raised that the crossing, which lacks lights and crossarms, could use improvements as the tree line and uphill grade limits visibility- which may have played a role in another accident last November (below) where a pickup was struck at the same location and pushed nearly a mile south resulting in serious injuries to the driver.

Mid America Live has reached out to BNSF railroad for comment  and will provide updates accordingly.
