State Farm Athlete of the Week

This week we traveled to Archie, Missouri for athlete of the week. Our State Farm and C & S Graphics athlete of the week selection is junior, Reagan Tenholder. Reagan is one of the team captains for the Whirlwind Volleyball team and helped lead them to their third straight District Volleyball Championship. Reagan was nominated by head coach Brian Tenholder. In the district semifinal game Reagan had 33 kills on 56 attempts for a 58.93% kill rating. She also had 4 blocks and 12 digs. ln the championship game she had 25 kills and 6 digs. She currently has 551 kills on the season which is second in class 1 and third in all classes. She leads the state with 6.3 kills per set and leads class 1 with 82 solo blocks. In the last regular season game she became the first ever whirlwind to reach 1,000 kills. We asked Reagan what she feels like it takes to become an elite athlete and she stated “you have to be willing to put in the extra effort, be hardworking, determined and put in lots of off season work.” We asked her what motivates her to keep working hard and competing and she stated “she wants to be a stand out athlete and be an inspiration to younger athletes.” We asked Reagan who inspired her when she was a younger athlete and she stated “she looked up a lot to Emma McIntire. She went and played college volleyball and I wanted to do that too.” We asked her what is her favorite thing about volleyball and she stated “the competitiveness of the sport, everyone wants to win and it’s great playing on a team like that.” Reagan says her goals before senior year are to put a lot of off season work in, playing on a new club team and becoming a more well rounded player to prepare for her senior year. She participates in volleyball, basketball and track at Archie. Her plans after high school are to attend college and play volleyball while majoring in nursing. The whirlwinds ended their season last night in 5 sets vs Liberal. They ended the year 25-5-1. It was such a pleasure speaking with Reagan and we wish her the best of luck in the future.
