Missouri inflation remains elevated, private sector earnings keeping pace

 


Recent data show that annual inflation remains elevated at 2.8%, but Missouri's private-sector earnings are keeping pace with 3.4% year-over-year growth.

The cost of living in Missouri continues to be relatively low, hovering around 90% of the national average, which also influences lower wage levels.
Living expenses differ throughout the state, with metropolitan areas averaging a cost of 92.3, compared to non-metropolitan areas at 89.7. Southern Missouri counties reported the lowest cost of living in 2025.
