State Farm Athlete of the Week Baylor Brownsberger

We are very excited to announce the first C&S Graphics and State Farm athlete of the week for 2026, junior, Baylor Brownsberger, from Appleton City. Baylor was nominated by head coach Travis Basore. He stated “Baylor leads our team in scoring typically averaging 20+ points a game. She helped lead us to winning the Butler Tournament championship and winning consolation in the Walnut Grove Holiday tournament where she tied a tournament record making 8 three pointers. She is a fierce competitor and makes everyone around her better. She also excels in the classroom, all while consistently putting in extra time in the gym outside of practice improving her game.” We asked Baylor how much extra time she puts in at the gym to continue working on her game and she stated “During basketball season, I spend about 4 hours in the gym over the weekends shooting. I usually try to make around 800 shots each day.” She states “around 5th grade is when I became pretty committed to basketball. I decided then that I wanted to play college ball. I was playing on a team in Kansas City and also had several role models that I saw go play college ball, and I said I want to do that. My cousin Morgan Eye played for Mizzou and she has been a big role model to me.” We asked Baylor what keeps her motivated to keep working and putting in the extra work she stated “well it probably started with my Dad pushing me to put in the work, but now with my goal of playing post high school, that goal keeps me motivated to keep getting better. I also work with some younger girls on the weekend and help put them through basketball workouts and that keeps me in the gym and motivated to be a good role model for them.” We asked her what are some of her favorite things about the game and she stated “I love all the relationships I’ve made along the way. I’ve made a lot of great friends. I love the competitive nature of the sport and the culture that comes with that. I also appreciate that it’s an indoor sport, versus my brother’s outdoor football games.” We asked what goals her team has for the year and she stated “we want to win our conference, win our district and make it to the final four at state.” It was such a pleasure speaking with Baylor. The Appleton City Lady Bulldogs are currently 14-2 and take on Lakeland tonight. We wish them the best of luck tonight and the remainder of the season!
