Obituary - Dwayne Long


Dwayne Eugene Long, 65 of Nevada, MO, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin.  Dwayne was born on December 1, 1960, in Nevada to Chester and Betty June (Hoffman) Long.  On November 4, 1982, he was married to Carol Jean Wagoner, and she survives of the home. 

     Dwayne was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School with the Class of 1979.  Dwayne worked as an auto body mechanic his whole career.  He owned his own shop for many years.  Dwayne was a family man, he loved being with his family especially spending time with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed working on muscle cars and watching his favorite movie “Smoky and the Bandit”. Dwayne was an avid lover of heavy metal music, especially Ozzy Osbourne, and his dogs, “Henry” and “Cash”.  His wish was to be an organ donor, a decision that he made at the age of 47.

    Dwayne is survived by his wife Carol of the home, his four children, daughter Keri Van Dyk

( Keith Gulliford), Nevada, daughter Jami Long, Nevada, son Kristopher Long, Nevada, and Daughter Jesika Long of Nevada, eight grandchildren, Lotus Van Dyk, Blaze Van Dyk, Krager VanDyk, Theo Gulliford, Karma Long, Severin Long, Shelby Long, and Charles Hartman.  He is also survived by one brother, one sister, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs “Henry” and “Cash”.  Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.

    The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
