The Butler Bears Varsity Scholar Bowl Team traveled to East Buchanan last night for the Class 3 MSHSAA Quarterfinals in a best-of-three match with a trip to the Final Four on the line. The Bears started slow, dropping the first game 270–180, but turned things around in Game 2 with a strong 280–230 win. The deciding third game was a thriller, tied 160–160 at halftime and coming down to the final question, where the Bears secured a 310–290 victory in a nail-biter. Leading the way was Easton Woolace, the top scorer for either team with an impressive 250 toss-up points, while Kole Plunkett, Thaddeus Goertz, and Meredith Dudley all added pivotal points in the win.
