Obituary - William Dalton Sr

William "Jimmy" James Dalton, Sr., 64, of Lake Annette, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at his home in Lake Annette. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Christopher Reeves Foundation.

Born on January 24, 1962, in Kansas City, MO, Jimmy was a son of Jackie Joe and Nora Carolyn (Fenning) Dalton. Jimmy grew up with his 5 siblings in Kansas City and spent time in several cities in Kansas, finally settling in the serene surroundings of Lake Annette, where he made countless memories.

Jimmy proudly earned his Associate's degree from Longview Community College and served his community as a member of the Spring Hill City Council. His dedication to public service was paralleled by a sense of camaraderie, especially marked during his time as an Alderman and as “the” LAPD while residing in Lake Annette.

A hardworking man, Jimmy found fulfillment as a self-employed dump truck driver, contributing his strength and tenacity to the construction industry. He was not just a diligent worker but also a passionate individual who cherished the simple joys in life-fishing on tranquil lakes, canoeing on the rivers of southern Missouri, tinkering with cars, riding 4-wheelers, and visiting with friends, family and spoiling all the children in his life. His laughter echoed in the hearts of those he met, and his kindness left a lasting impression.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his precious son, William J. Dalton, Jr., affectionately known as Little Jimmy or his “Pumpkin Buddy”; his parents; his brothers, Chris and Joey Dalton; and in-laws, Shirley Dalton and Douglas Cox. He is survived by his loving sisters: Jane C. (Don) Hamerle of Liberty, MO; and Catherine "Kate" Cox of Blue Springs, MO; his brother, Tom Dalton, of Kansas City, MO; his niece, Sarah (Andy) Schneider, of Kansas City, MO; his nephew, Jordan (Amber) Dalton, of Blue Springs, MO; great-nieces: Aubrey Schneider and Shane Moore; and great-nephews: Brock Schneider; Bruce and Wade Dalton; and cousins: Teresa (Dennis) Patterson and Steven Brocato (Mario Kart extraordinaire). Also, his devoted caretakers, Jesse and Nicky Hinds; his “PT coordinator”, Jeff Ford; and close friend, Dee Dee (Scott) Morse of Lake Annette, MO. He is also remembered fondly by a wide circle of extended family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
