Excessive Heat Watch starting Thursday

An excessive heat watch will be in effect from Thursday afternoon through Saturday evening.

Afternoon temperatures for Thursday and Friday will climb into the middle to upper 90s. For Saturday... temperatures are expected to be in the lower to middle 90s. Heat indices during this period will range from 100 to 108 degrees.

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of non-alcoholic beverages... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives... the elderly... and pets.

HOT weekend headed our way...

Today
Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 80s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight
Clear in the evening...then partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the upper 60s. East winds 5 to 10 mph.

The 4th of July forecast calls for clear skies and mid 90's.
