RICH HILL FLAG CONTEST DEADLINE MAY 27TH


The City of Rich Hill will fly a new flag during the Fourth of July festivities. The design of the new City Flag will be determined
through a public contest. 
If you are interested in submitting your artistic entry ,you must submit your entry to the Rich Hill City Hall or email your design to tperryman@richhill.com or fax your entry to 417-395-4555. The deadline will be May 27th.
The winning flag will be unveiled during the Fourth of July celebrations in Rich Hill. If you have any questions regarding the rules and regulations contact the Rich Hill City Hall.

Obituary - Ralph Plunkett


Funeral services for Ralph Plunkett will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Contributions to Heartland Hospice.

Ralph William Plunkett, age 67 of Butler, Missouri, died Friday, April 12, 2013 at his home in Butler. He was born March 23, 1946 to Leslie William and Irma Ann Clark Plunkett in Huntington Park, California.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Patty Plunkett of Butler, Missouri; two sons, Joey Plunkett Sr. and wife Trish and Brandon Plunkett and wife Heather all of Butler, Missouri; one sister, Shirley Clock of Norco, California; one aunt, Juanita Clark of Butler, Missouri; and six grandchildren, J.D., Joey Jr., Scott, Leah, Kenny and Kole. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, LeRoy Plunkett.

People4People Coalition are taking back unwanted prescription drugs




 On April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Butler Police Department, Bates County People4People Coalition and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous,expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Please Bring your medications to the Bates County Health Center at 501 N. Orange St., Butler for disposal. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Last September, Americans turned in 244 tons of prescription drugs at over 5,200 sites operated by the DEA and its thousands of state and local law enforcement partners. In its five previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners took in over 2 million pounds—over a thousand tons—of pills.

GOSPEL CONCERT AT MT. ZION UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

The Gospel Singers " Sensational Wonders" will be in concert at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Sunday April 21st at 3:30pm. Children's Center Casino Night


Children's Center Casino Night Tickets are on sale now they are  $25.00 in advance, $30.00 at the door. You must be 21 to enter. With your ticket you get dinner by Butthead BBQ, beverages and $300.00 in play money! There will be live mouse races, raffle items, blackjack, plinko, poker and a live auction. Social hour is from 6:30 to 7:30 and the casino will be open from 7:30 to 10 p.m at the Adrian Optimist Buliding.This event will be Saturday April 27th. The live auction will start after the casino closes. NASA IS COMING TO BUTLER


The Butler Public Library has been selected as one of the 25 libraries in the United States that will be hosting a NASA Science4girls/Astro4girls and their family event.
Monsters in the Middle: Super Massive Black Holes in the Heart of Galaxies” will be featured at the Butler Public Library and the Butler Public Schools on Saturday, May 18th. This will be science fun for the entire family.

This program is targeted for the 4th – 9th grades but no one will be turned away. The Butler High School will feature “Monsters in the Middle” from 10am – 11am where everyone will have the opportunity to learn about supper massive black holes featuring some of the latest discoveries from NASA spacecraft.

From 11am – 2pm “Fun with Science Open House” will be at the Butler High School when you will be able to drop in anytime to join in the fun and make an edible model, a Sky Wheel to take and also experience fun, hands-on activities that are designed for all ages involving black holes, cratering and much more.

Saturday evening from 8:30 – 11pm join in the “Star Party” at the Butler Public Library. Members of the Astronomical Society of Kansas City will guide everyone in viewing the Moon, starts and other wonders of the night sky with their telescopes.
