UPDATE: -Investigation Continues on Body Discovered in Henry County


The Henry County Sheriff along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory in Jefferson City, provided deputies with the identity of the male subject that was discovered floating in the Grand River, east of the Urich Boat Ramp by a fisherman on Wednesday evening.

A postitive match on the mans identity has been confirmed, However it can't be released at this time due to the fact that all family hasn't been notified. When that information becomes available we will release it. The Autopsy is suppose to be done by this afternoon.


The Rural Missouri Major Case Squad will be convening on Friday, June 7, to begin assisting the Henry County Sheriff’s Office with their investigation. Bates County Live will update this when more information is available.







Vernon County Drug Arrest


Deputy Michael Hicks arrested a male subject for possession of methamphetamines while working an extra detail patrol on the square for Bushwhacker days. The subject was transported to the Vernon County Jail. The name has not been released pending filing of formal charges.

Body found in Grand River in Henry County


The Henry County Sheriff's Office believe a body that was found last night in The Grand River is not the 18 year old man that went missing on Sunday. they believe the body is a victim of homicide. Missouri State Highway Patrol said the body that was found last night showed signs of head trauma. And also the man is believed to be in his 30s and had been underwater for days. Authorities are working on finding the mans idenity and The person who did this. An autopsy was suppose to begin today. Bates County Live will update this store when more information becomes available.

The Community Liaison Council is once again selling contest coupon books that will enter you in the drawing to win gift certificates, gift baskets and cash. The dollars you spend will benefit the Rich Hill Youth Development Center located in Rich Hill. The Center is a home for troubled teens ages 11 through 17. The 24 bed facility provides a haven for boys from all over Southern Missouri for a 6 to 8 month period .
The Center teaches young male adults the skills needed to re-shape their lives, minds and improve relationships with family members, teachers and authority figures. The Center is state funded but is in need of several amenities for the boys living at the Center.
Fund raising coupons books may be purchased from Doug McCrorey, President of the Community Liasion Council. The coupons books are selling for 10 dollars each through July 4th. There will be 2 sets of drawings one in July and again in November.
Each coupon book offers 14 chances to win , the Christmas drawing will offer 12 chances to win cash prizes, dinners, gas, gift certificates  and a variety of other donated items.
Saturday June 22nd, President Doug McCrorey will be at Food Fair in Rich Hill selling the coupon books. Stop by between 8 am and 6 pm and purchase a $10.00 coupon book. If you can’t make it to Food Fair the

The Missouri Bar is Accepting Nominations from the General Public for the Annual Pro Bono Publico Awards

In recognition of the attorneys or law firms who demonstrate exemplary service to low-income individuals who need legal assistance, and to encourage all attorneys to imitate their example, The Missouri Bar will be accepting nominations from the general public for the Annual Pro Bono Publico Awards.

Four awards are given annually to individual attorneys or law firms in the St. Louis area, Kansas City area, and two in the out-state area. The criteria for nomination includes:

§  A significant part of the service must occur during the preceding year.

§  The service must be provided without compensation to the attorney except for reimbursement of actual expenses.

§  A significant part of the service must be rendered directly to low-income persons (under 200% of federal poverty level) or to a public or tax-exempt nonprofit organization which directly serves low-income individuals.

§  The recipient must not have received the award within the prior five years.

§  The attorney must be a member in good standing of The Missouri Bar.

Any person can nominate an attorney for the award using the online nomination form (http://www.mobar.org/probono-nomination.htm?terms=pro%20bono%20award) or by submitting a nomination letter. The deadline for receipt of nominations is June 18, 2013.
