Grandview man arrested in Bates County

On 8/21/16 around 7:19pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 28 year old Ruben Ramirez - Reyes of Grandview, Missouri.

He was arrested for 1.) 3 Misdemeanor Traffic Warrants out of Grandview Police Department.

Mr. Reyes was booked into the Bates County Jail and is currently listed as bondable.

Eldorado Springs man injured after motorcycle strikes deer in Barton County

On 8/21/16 around 3:10am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Barton responded to a one vehicle motorcycle accident on A Highway around 4 miles Southwest of Milford in rural Barton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2004 Aprilia Motorcycle driven by 23 year old Jeffery D. Robison of Eldorado Springs, Missouri struck a deer in the roadway.

Mr. Robison sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The motorcycle was totaled and towed from the scene by Abernathy Tow of Lamar, Missouri.

Belton couple charged after child was shot during violent drug deal

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Authorities have charged a Belton man and his girlfriend with child endangerment and child abuse for allegedly firing weapons near children during a violent drug deal.

Prosecutors have requested that the bail for Darrell Roberson, 28, and Roselynn Kuntz, 25, to be set at $100,000 each.

Clinton man injured in Johnson County two vehicle accident

On 8/21/16 around 1:36pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Johnson County responded to a two vehicle accident on Business 13 Highway at SE 150 in rural Johnson County.'

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2008 Chevrolet driven by 55 year old Ronald K. Aseiner of Clinton, Missouri traveled into the Southbound lane and struck the rear of the 2004 Ford driven by 27 year old Jordan J. Henchey of Warrensburg, Missouri.

Mr. Aseiner sustained minor injures in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment.

Both vehicle received moderate damages in this accident and both were towed from the scene by Tip Top Tow.

Butler woman injured in motorcycle crash near Rockville

On 8/21/16 around 12:35pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff''s Deputies responded to a one vehicle motorcycle accident on Route B Highway at SE County Road 9606 in the Rockville area of Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2015 Harley Davidson driven by 62 year old Marilyn D. Swarens of Butler, Missouri failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the South side of the roadway, striking a ditch and ejecting her off the bike as it overturned.

She sustained minor injuries in this accident and was transported by Bates County EMS to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The bike sustained minor damages and was towed from the scene by a private vehicle.

Obituary - Loren Neal Reynolds

Loren Neal Reynolds
Loren Neal Reynolds was born on August 21, 1936 in Scott Township, Linn County, Kansas to Volney Preston Reynolds and Hilja Sivia Henrikson Reynolds. He joined two sisters, Eleanor Eileen and Vivian Maxine. He passed away in the early morning hours of August 20, 2016-just hours shy of his 80th birthday.

As a child, Loren attended Oak Grove School and later La Cygne Rural High School. He graduated in 1954 as salutatorian for his senior class. After graduation, he attended Midwest Bible College in Stanberry, Missouri. 


After two years, he returned to the farm where he grew up and continued to farm the rest of his life.

Loren married Rose Marie Miller on July 16, 1961. They shared more than 55 years together. To this union were born four children: Two daughters, Janet and Ruth, and two sons, David and Larry.


Loren was a member of the Church of God (7th Day). Throughout the years, he served in various roles for the church, including Sabbath School teacher and lay speaker. There were two things that Loren truly loved-music and studying the Bible. He instilled a love for both in his children and the grandchildren. The last few years he attended Beacon of Truth Church in Richmond, KS.


He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Vivian Carlton, all of his aunts and uncles, as well as many cousins. He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie and daughter Ruth of the home, daughter Janet, son Larry, and son David (Laura) all of La Cygne. He also had 5 grandchildren: Heather (Forest) Sears, Emily (John) Knight, Samuel, Paul, and John Reynolds; and 5 great-grandchildren: Tirzah, Jaylah, and Kierah Sears, and Lucas and Hailey Knight. He is also survived by his sister, Eileen, Clinton, Missouri, and sisters-in-law, Dollie Wallace and Joy Walter, both of St. Joseph, Missouri; his sister''s children Vern Batley, Mike Batley, Bill Sutcliffe, Hal Sutcliffe, and Kathy Gander. 


Funeral services will be at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel on Tuesday, August 23 at 11:00 AM, with burial in the Brooklyn Cemetery. Pastors Reuben Esh and Tim Hinds will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, August 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 at the funeral home. The family suggests donations be made to the La Cygne Historical Society or the La Cygne Library. There will be a dinner for family and friends at the Swan Room in the La Cygne Library following burial.
