Obituary - James Millard Sr.

James Allen Millard Sr.
James Allen Millard Sr., age 65, Amoret, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at his home.

 He was born on October 9, 1951 at Kansas City, Missouri the son of James Harvey and Glenda Spencer Millard. He was a Navy Veteran serving his country during the Vietnam War. He worked as a fork lift operator. 

Jim married Carrie Miller on December 20, 2008. He was a member of the Pleasanton Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed gardening and watching old cartoons. 

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Albert Millard and two sisters, Brenda Birkes and Pam Folsom. Jim is survived by his wife Carrie, two sons, James Millard Jr and Patrick Millard, a step son, Timothy Lindsey, his mother, Glenda Fielding and husband Charles, two brothers, Ronnie Eavenson and Jim Wisby, four sisters: Rhonda Biggars, Bonnie Powers, Debbie Wilson and Brenda Shinn, seven grandchildren: Bethany, Courtney, Eric, Anastasia, Terry, Ira, and Everett, one great grandchild Colton, and step mother Betty Millard.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Pleasanton Chapel. Burial in the Benjamin Cemetery, Amoret, Missouri. The family suggests contributions to the Pleasanton Church of the Nazarene.

Snow chances will begin by the mid to late morning and may cause roads to become slick during the afternoon and evening commute. Snow should then taper off during the evening hours, though frigid temperatures will stay in place through Friday.



One vehicle rollover accident on I-49 in Cass County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with several emergency personnel is in route to a one vehicle rollover accident in the Northbound Lanes of I-49 around Mile Marker 171 which is just South of North Cass Parkway in rural northern Cass County.

The report is a tan in color car that has rolled over into the median cables at this time. Please use caution if you must travel in this area and expect traffic delays.

We are hearing at this time that up to 5 vehicles could be involved in several accidents in this area.

Missing dog in Hume area

Our dog went missing in Hume, yesterday morning. This was my girls dog and they are so devastated he's not home!

His name is Jax and he is very friendly, boarder collie/corgie mix.

Butler man arrested on Bates County warrant

Terrance M. Riley
On 12/7/16 around 8:56am the Bates County Sheriffs Office arrested 27 year old Terrance M. Riley of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Riley was arrested on 1.) Felony Bates County Sheriffs Office Warrant - Forgery.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail and placed on a 7,500 Cash/Surety Bond.

Obituary - Margaret Eleanor Overley

Margaret Eleanor Overley, 92, Harrisonville, Missouri, formerly Kansas City, Missouri, died December 6, 2016 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City. 

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:00 p.m. with services at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri, with cremation to follow. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Heart of America, 3846 West 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208, (alzfdn.org).
