Central Missouri man killed after being ejected from vehicle

On 12/7/16 around 2:13pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Jackson County responded to a one vehicle fatality accident on Eastbound US 50 Highway just East of Smart Road in rural Jackson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 GMC driven by 47 year old Charles D.Roderick of Warrensburg, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned, ejecting the driver.

Mr. Roderick was pronounced dead at the scene around 2:26pm and he was transported to the Jackson County Medical Examiners Office.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by Tip Top Tow.

This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 75th Fatality of 2016.

Two injured in Cass County head on crash

On 12/7/16 around 5:07pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle head on crash at Missouri 58 Highway just east of Gray Road in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Ford Ranger driven by 16 year old Michael D. Denney of Pleasant Hill, Missouri lost control of his vehicle on icy roads, crossed the center line of traffic and struck the 2010 Ford Escape driven by 25 year old Sabrina A. Seaboldt of Pleasant Hill, Missouri head on.

Both Sabrina A. Seaboldt and Michael D. Denney sustained moderate injures in this accident and both were transported by ambulance to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Stever's Tow.

Obituary - Charles John "Chuck" Kammerer

Charles John "Chuck" Kammerer, age 78, of Antler, North Carolina formerly of Mound City, Kansas passed away on December 7, 2016. He was born on September 25, 1938 at Bessemer, Michigan the son of John C. and Florence V. Parker Kammerer. He was veteran of the United States Army. He married Theresa Seidel on May 9, 1964 in Lynwood, California. During his working career Chuck worked in several occupations including: cabinet maker, carpenter, truck line maintenance foreman and life insurance agent. He is survived by his wife Theresa, son, Theron Kammerer, four daughters: Julie Leon, Cheryl Stevens, Lynette Palmer and Rena Kammerer and eleven grandchildren. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City, Kansas. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 4 pm Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Visitation will follow the rosary to 6 pm. The family suggests contributions to your local church Christmas flower fund. On line condolences for the family can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com. Obituary - Herbert Guy Riggs, Jr.

Herbert Guy Riggs, Jr.
Herbert Guy Riggs, Jr., 91, passed away at his home in Nevada, MO on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. He was born on November 9, 1925 in Ft. Scott, KS to Herbert Guy Riggs, Sr. and Alma Viola (Clevenger) Riggs. He married Betty Ann Overton on June 1, 1947 in Nevada and she preceded him in death on August 9, 2004.

Herbert was raised in Ft. Scott and Nevada and attended Nevada High School. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and served aboard the USS ROI in the South Pacific. Following the service he returned to Nevada and attended an auto body and fender school in Kansas City. For a number of years he owned his own milk truck and operated a dairy route in Vernon County. He later worked as a painter at the Nevada State Hospital until his retirement in 1987.

Survivors include his children, Jerry Riggs and wife Francine and Brenda Hoselton and husband Herman, both of Nevada; grandchildren, Tony Hoselton and wife Becky, Nevada, Sonya Haller and husband Brian, Nevada, Angie Eads and husband Chris, Ft. Scott, John Murphy and wife Megan, Nevada and Shea Moore and husband Brandon, State of AR; twelve great grandchildren; and sister Mary Ann Mitchem, Nevada. In addition to his wife, Betty, and his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Wilva Thompson and a great grandson, Brett Hoselton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Pastor David Crook of the First Baptist Church of Nevada officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Those who wish may contribute in Herbert’s memory to Vernon County Cancer Relief in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
