On 02-13-2017 Barton County Sheriffs Deputies were dispatched to the area of NW 150th Lane and 50th Rd to a report of suspicious activity.
While enroute, deputies were advised that the suspicious vehicle had crashed into the trees and the occupants were no longer in the vehicle. Liberal officer was first on scene and he advised that they were most likely injured due to the amount of blood in the vehicle. Upon arrival Chief Deputy Luce deployed K-9 Hondo to track the individuals.
After a short track, Hondo led Deputies to two injured males hiding in the bushes at the bottom of a bluff. Deputy Ehrsam and Officer Simpson had to climb down the bluff to take make contact with the individuals.
Both individuals were detained and treated by the ambulance crew. One of the individuals was transported to the hospital for his injuries. MSHP investigated the traffic accident.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 51 year old Ronald D. Carrier of Pittsburg, Kansas. He sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported to Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas for treatment.
Bake sales, auctions and more were held over the weekend to help raise money to offset costs for the family of Kameron Williams, 19, who was severely injured in an accident recently. Mid America Live spoke with several of those spearheading the fundraising and it is believed that around $4,000 was raised in the past few days, making the effort well worth it.
