Rose Mary Mantonya, 86, of Osceola, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Missouri. 

Visitation will be at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Missouri, Wednesday, February 15th,2017 from 6-8 pm. 

Funeral Services will be held at Tebo Baptist Church,Thursday, February 16th, 2017 at 10 am, Interment following at Tebo Cemetery, Leesville, Missouri.

Rose Mary (Davison) Mantonya was married to Earl Mantonya for 49 years. She loved to travel, especially to Colorado. She also enjoyed camping, sewing,and reading. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandkids. She was employed on the sewing line at Unitog. She was a member of Tebo Baptist Church of Leesville, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Vena Altha Holcroft, her husband Earl Mantonya who passed on September 19, 1996, her brother Henry Holt, and grandson Chester "Lee" Mantonya.

She is survived by her daughters; Helen Armstrong (Brian) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Glenda Cornett (Larry) of Osceola, Missouri, Her sons; Norman Mantonya (Chris) of Clinton, Missouri, Robert Mantonya (Carmen) of Warsaw, Missouri, eight grandchildren; Robert Cornett, Becky Ellis, Chad Mantonya, Dustin Mantonya, Treasure Green, Cory Mantonya, Ryan Mantonya, Ashley Wheatland, twenty one great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Tebo Cemetery and may be left in care of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.

Butler man escapes injury in Anderson County Kansas crash

On 2/14/17 around 7:30am the Kansas State Highway Patrol in Anderson County responded to a two vehicle accident on U.S. 169 just North of Greeley, Kansas.

The Kansas State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1999 Toyota Camry driven by 19 year old Kerry Burgoon of Kincaid, Kansas was stopped in the Northbound Lane of U.S. 169 Highway attempting to make a left hand turn when he was stuck by the 2007 Kenworth semi truck driven by 46 year old Thomas Joray of Butler, Missouri.

Kerry Burgoon as well as three passengers in his vehicle all sustained injuries in this accident and all were transported by ambulance to Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, Kansas for treatment. Mr. Joray wasn't injured in this accident.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Marvin's Tow Service and TT&T Tow.

Vehicle Fire In Butler

On Tuesday, February 14 at 11:47 p.m. the Butler Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of Ohio and Maple Street for a reported vehicle fire. 

First units arrived on scene at 11:50 p.m. and found the vehicle to be fully engulfed. 

The fire was extinguished without further damage to other property.





Last Harvest Cowboy Church Revival coming this weekend

The Last Harvest Cowboy Church is all set to present a revival this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the church at 219 S. Main St. in Butler.

Services will be held starting at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday; 10 am on Sunday.

When Medicalodge asked for Valentines for their "Resident Valentine Mailbox" they had no idea how many they would get! There were over one thousand Valentines handed out to residents.

Obituary - Clyde Milford Johnson

Clyde Milford Johnson
Clyde Milford Johnson, age 81, resident of Fulton, KS, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at his home. He was born September 10, 1935, in Brookville, IN, the son of Jesse and Elizabeth Kinder Johnson. He married Georgia Carol Harding on July 8, 1965, in Phoenix, AZ. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Wades Query in LaCygne, KS, for 32 years. He drove a semi-truck for Riss International for 28 years. Clyde was a very outgoing, hardworking man. He enjoyed horse pulls. He was a member of the Marmaton Community Christian Church in Redfield, KS.

Survivors include his wife Carol of the home; 4 sons, Mark Johnson, AZ, Troy Johnson, Redfield, KS, Jesse Johnson and fiancé Tristin, Nevada, MO, and A.J. Johnson, Redfield; 2 daughters, Toni Gaspar Cordona, Fulton, KS, and Penny Atkinson and husband Tim, Ft. Scott, KS; a brother, Lloyd Johnson and wife Jennie, Engles, IN; 2 sisters, Sue Horn and husband Ralph, and Laura; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Seitz; 3 sisters; and a brother.

Pastor Jeff Feagins will conduct funeral services at 10:00 Saturday, February 18th, at the Marmaton Community Christian Church, Redfield, KS. Burial will follow in the Woods Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Clyde Johnson Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main, Ft. Scott, KS 66701. Obituary - Daisy Louise Purnell

 Daisy Louise Purnell
Daisy Louise Purnell, age 101, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Kingswood Living Center, Kansas City, MO.

Louise was born on August 7, 1915 to Hugh & Lillie White of Calhoun, MO. She married John William Purnell on April 18, 1936. They lived on a farm East of Calhoun, while John worked at Windsor Coal Company. Louise made clothes for her daughters and made beautiful quilts for all her children and grandchildren to cherish. Later they moved to K.C., KS. John worked at Fairbanks and Morse Company, while Louise worked for K. C. Boys’ Wear, later at Gay Gibson, then at Nelly Don Clothing.

Louise is survived by four children, Lillie Yvonne Emsweller of Kalispell, Montana, Leta Marie Scott and husband Don of Raytown, MO, Barbara Lou Meacham and husband Ivan of Lowry City, MO and Melford Purnell of Big Fork, Montana. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Clemons of Clinton, MO. Louise was cherished by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family and friends that were so dear to her.

The family will receive visitors at 1:00 PM of Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Consalus Funeral Home, Clinton. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, followed by Interment at Calhoun Cemetery, Calhoun, MO.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Calhoun Cemetery and may be left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.

Mark Stephen Degrave 51 years old 6’ tall 210 lbs. blue eyes blonde hair with multiple tattoos. 

Mr. Degrave is currently wanted for failure to appear in court in St Clair County, Missouri his charges include 1.)Possession of burglary tools 2.)Burglary-2nd degree 3.) Felony Tampering with a motor vehicle. 

Mr. Degrave also has pending warrants in Cedar County, Missouri for 3 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm. 

He was last seen in El Dorado Springs MO with Laura Billingsley of Rich Hill MO. They are believed to have fled the state, possibly to Kentucky but he has family in Pennsylvania .
