Obituary - Noel Dean Boxley

Noel Dean Boxley, 86, Belton, MO, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at his home. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 6 at Southview Christian Church in Grandview, MO, with visitation from 10:30-11. Burial will be in Belton Cemetery.

Update: Name released in Belton Shooting

On 3/30/2017 at about 3:15 am Belton officers responded to an address in the 1500 blk of N Scott in regards to a shooting. 

Upon arrival officers found two male subjects suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both transported to area hospitals. One of the men, 29 year old Gabriel Brito, was pronounced dead a short time later.

The surviving victim advised that an unknown white male had come to the residence and confronted the victims with a handgun. A physical confrontation then occurred where both victim's were shot. The suspect is described as approximately 6 foot tall with a muscular build and a tattoo on his right wrist. 

A metro squad has been assembled to assist in the investigation; there is nothing further to release at this time.

Jean L. Murphy
Jean L. Murphy, 88 of Butler, Missouri passed away March 29, 2017 at Carnegie Assisted Living in Belton, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Butler with Fr. Tom Hermes as Celebrant. 

Visitation will be prior to Mass from 9-10 AM also at the church. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Messages of condolence for the family may be left at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.
 
(In her own words; this obituary penned by Mrs. Murphy herself.)Jean Lenore (Blair) Murphy was born August 6, 1928 in Texola, Oklahoma. One of five children, Jean grew up in western Oklahoma and was educated in the Texola schools. Following graduation, she attended Hill’s Business College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Sarachon-Hooley Secretarial School in Kansas City, Missouri.
 
She was employed by Jensen-Salsbrty Veterinary Laboratories and Standard Oil Company in the accounting department. Jean met Edward Joseph Murphy in 1950 when he was a student at Kansas City School of Law and they married in September of 1953 at Redemptorist Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri. They came to Butler in July of 1955. Edward engaged in the practice of law and Jean was employed at Osage Valley Electric Cooperative as secretary to the manager.
 
Jean was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Bates County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Butler Public Library board, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a book review club, and several bridge clubs.
 
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Bevely Hanford and Emma Pearl (Johnson) Blair; her husband Edward in 1986; two brothers and two sisters. Jean is survived by her cherished cousins Tammy Baker of White House, Tennessee and Georgia Gray of Grass Valley, California; nephew Paul (Wati) Henshaw of Vancouver, Washington; and nieces Betty Karst also of Vancouver and Barbara (Chuck) Norman of Terra Haute, Indiana.

Glayds L. Edwards 94 of Bolivar, Missouri formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Citizens Memorial Healthcare, Bolivar, Missouri.

The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office has Cancelled an Endangered SILVER Advisory for a missing adult incident that occurred at 1920 South 801 Road, El Dorado Springs, MO at  5:00 P.M. on 03/26/2017.


The endangered SILVER advisory missing adult was:
John William Stout, a white, male, age 79, hgt 5' 06", 180 lbs, white hair, blue eyes, light complexion, wearing unknown clothing.


Diagnosed Medical Condition(s): Early onset dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Vehicle Information:
Gray 2015 Chrysler 200 bearing MO registration, 01VPJF, last seen 1920 South 801 Road, El Dorado Springs, MO.


Brief circumstances regarding the Endangered Silver Person incident:

Subject has been located safe.






Update: Harrisonville man injured in Cass County rollover accident

On 3/30/17 around 7:47pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County responded to a one vehicle rollover accident in the Southbound Lanes of I-49 around mile marker 169.8 north of Peculiar, Missouri. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Buick Lacrosse driven by 22 year old Tyler C. Nickel of Harrisonville, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Mr. Nickel sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by J's Southland Tow.
