Operation Sock-It-To-Me Campaign

Bates County Memorial Hospital’s Auxiliary volunteers launched their first annual Operation Sock-It-To-Me campaign today.

The BCMH Auxiliary is sponsoring this community project to collect socks for girls and boys, kindergarten through grade 12. Please drop off new socks in the package, at the hospital's information desk, or at any of our Family Care clinics by October 31. The socks will be distributed to students at area schools.

Why socks? Warm feet help children stay healthier, sleep better at night, and improve their ability to concentrate at school. Our children and youth also face peer pressure about their clothing, including worn-out socks. The community’s help is appreciated to help make this project a success.

Drop-off locations are Bates County Memorial Hospital, 615 W. Nursery, Butler; Adrian Family Care Clinic, 102 E. Main St., Adrian; High Street Family Care Clinic, 706 S. High St., Butler; Nursery Street Family Care Clinic, 617 W. Nursery St., Butler, and Rich Hill Family Care Clinic, 225 N. 14th St., Butler.

From the desk of Missouri State Representative Warren Love

OSCEOLA, Mo. – State Rep. Warren Love issued the following statement regarding his recent Facebook post about the act of vandalism that took place at the Springfield National Cemetery:

“I am deeply sorry for the extremely poor choice of words I used to convey my frustration with the act of vandalism that took place at the Springfield National Cemetery. Where I am from the expression I used simply means we should prosecute the offender to the fullest extent of the law, but I understand how what I wrote offended those who saw it as advocating for violence. I do not in any way support violent or hateful acts toward the perpetrator of the crime. I apologize for using inappropriate and offensive language to convey these thoughts and ask for the forgiveness of my colleagues, constituents, and all Missourians.”

State Representative Love had posted on Facebook on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, that the person responsible for vandalizing a Confederate statue in a National Cemetery in Springfield should be hanged.

“I hope they are found & hung from a tall tree with a long rope," the Iconium area resident posted on Facebook. The vandalism consisted of spray painting the Confederate statue.
