Obituary - Mary H. Forrester

Mary H. Forrester
Mary H. Forrester, age 68, of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully on September 5, 2017, at her home, surrounded by the love of her husband and family. 

Funeral Service begins at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Cullen Funeral Home. 

Graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 11th, at the Czech Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

Mary was born August 16, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ernest and Marie (Kopacka) Hyden. On December 30, 1978, Mary was united in marriage with Lawrence “Larry” Forrester. 

Mary loved working with her hands and was employed for over 15 years as an assembler for Dwyer Instruments in Grandview, Missouri. Mary loved traveling the world with her husband and visited France, Hawaii, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand, Hong Kong, Mexico, and several Caribbean islands. 

Mary moved to Seoul, Korea with Larry when he transferred for a job assignment. They lived there for almost two years and Mary brought home an adopted Korean puppy. She loved animals and flowers, but her family always came first in her life. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Marie Hyden; and one grandson, Jakob Wade. Mary is survived by her husband of 38 years, Larry Forrester; children, Denise Simpson (Scott) and Shane Coley (Tina Robb); sisters, Doris Nunn, Evelyn Besse and Kathryn Reidell; six grandchildren, Lacey, Chris, Chance, Bradley, and twins- Morgan and Megan; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kaylyn and Brysen: mother-in-law, Joan Forrester, and many friends.

Police searching for Joplin woman wanted in stabbing

As a result of the investigation into Tuesday’s stabbing at Comfort Inn, the Joplin Police Department presented charges against a suspect to the Newton County Prosecutor’s Office. 

The Newton County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges of 1st Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action against Nicole L Teague, 30, Joplin. Her bond is set at $100,000. 

Teague hasn’t been arrested and her whereabouts are unknown. Anyone with information on her location should contact the Joplin Police Department at 417-623-3131. The mugshot and swollen eye are from a previous arrest unrelated to this case.





Obituary - Virginia Lee Murphy Maples

Virginia Lee Murphy Maples, age 70, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was born on June 29, 1947 at Salina, Kansas the daughter of Wallace Dale and Margaret Helen Alt Murphy. She graduated from Mound City High School in the Class of 1965. 

She worked as a beautician and dietary manager. She enjoyed decorating cakes, knitting and debating politics and religion. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She listened to Christmas music way ahead of the holiday season. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Douglas Dean Hamilton and William Earl Hamilton II, a brother, Pat Murphy and three sisters: Patricia Marie Murphy, Margaret Nicholas, and Cheryl Lynn Murphy. Virginia is survived by a son Delrees Eugene Hamilton, two daughters, Tonja Lee Thaxton and Christina Marie Hamilton, a brother Ray Scott Murphy, three sisters: Carol Conn, Jean Leise, and Sandra Abati, and ten grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday September 9, 2017 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Friday at the Schneider Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to The National Kidney Foundation or Discovering the Jewish Jesus. Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for September 2017

Carissa Margrave
Carissa Margrave is recognized as the Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for September, 2017. 

Carissa began her employment as a Registered Nurse in the Nursing Department in 2010. Carissa works as a Staff RN, as well as the RN Patient Educator. 

Carissa is working closely with the implementation of the hospital’s new electronic health record. Carissa provides compassionate, professional care to our patients and is a valued employee.

From the Lamar Police Department

Within the past week the Lamar Police Department has recovered two stolen vehicles. On Friday, 09/01/2017 officers stopped a vehicle which was discovered to be stolen; the driver was taken into custody. 

On Wednesday, 09/06/2017, a citizen called in some suspicious activity which lead to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the apprehension of those in possession of the vehicle.

The Department would like to thank the officers and the citizens of Lamar for their vigilance.





Leeton man injured in Henry County Crash

One person was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Sept. 6th in Henry County on Missouri Highway 13 around eight-tenths of a mile south of County Road NE 770.

Michael J. Horning, 49, Leeton, wearing a seat belt, southbound in a 2014 Chevrolet, traveled off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a sign and a fence, then overturned.

Michael J. Horning experienced moderate injuries and was transported by Golden Valley EMS to the Western Missouri Medical Center. His vehicle was totaled and removed from the scene by Golden Valley Wrecker.

Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper D.J. Maupin investigated the accident and was assisted by Corporal R.C. West and the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.













One injured in Cass County Crash

On 9/6/17 around 7:18pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 58 Highway at Route J in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2016 Ford Escape driven by 64 year old Joseph R. Wood of Lees Summit, Missouri failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the 2016 Ford Explorer driven by 35 year old Jesse L. Walkingstick of Raymore, Missouri is the passenger side door.

Mr. Walkingstick sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by private vehicle to Belton Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damages and they were towed from the scene by Eckert's Tow and J's Southland Tow.
