Obituary - Helen Marie Cornell
Helen Marie Cornell, 86, Nevada, MO passed away on February 6, 2018 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. Helen was born May 20, 1931 in Nevada to Roy David and Bernice M. (Lyon) Osborne. She was united in marriage to Earl Cornell on January 9, 1978 in Miami, OK and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2003.
Helen grew up in Nevada and attended Nevada Schools. Following high school she moved to California. While there she worked as a waitress in Anaheim for five years and in Hayward for an additional six years. In 1966 Helen returned to Nevada and continued to work as a waitress at Veith’s CafĂ© for several years. She then worked for Allied Signal (later the Fram Corp.) until their closing. In her spare time she was passionate about flower gardening.
Survivors include two sons, David Garwood, Nevada, John Myrick, Mesquite, NV; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Earl, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael, and one daughter, Mickie Boyd.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Daniel S. Cummings passed away on Monday February 5, 2018 at Research Hospital, in Kansas City, Missouri, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Daniel S. Cummings passed away on Monday February 5, 2018 at Research Hospital, in Kansas City, Missouri, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Daniel was born October 26, 1972 in Springfield, Missouri, to Jesse Lee and Susan Kay (Lawson) Cummings. He grew up in Springfield, then moved to Montrose, Missouri where he attended Montrose R-14 School. He graduated from Montrose High School in 1991 and then from Southwest Missouri State University in 1995.
After completing his education, Daniel worked as a senior consultant for Barkawi Management Consultants and traveled the world with his work. He met Charuwan “Yea” Khomuamoo while on his travels and they were joined in marriage on October 29, 2004 in Thailand. Daniel absolutely loved the outdoors, especially when spent with his family and friends. He spent as much time as he could hunting, fishing and trapping. Daniel participated in several outdoor competitions where he won numerous awards. He dedicated several years of service to the Montrose Fire Department, Montrose Archery Association and Snodgrass Union Cemetery Board. He was a proud father enjoying watching his daughter Ray succeed with art and daughter Aimee with competitive softball.
Daniel and Yea’s combined love of the outdoors lead them to start their taxidermy business, Cummings Wildlife Studios, which allowed them to spend many hours together. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Imojeanne (Elrod) Lawson, Jasper Free and Artie Mesia (Keith) Cummings and his father, Jesse Lee Cummings. Daniel is survived by his wife Charuwan “Yea” Cummins; two daughters, Charuphak “Ray” and Aimee; and mother Susan of the home. He is also survived by many family and friends.

Harold Mason “Butch” Plain, 79, El Dorado Springs, MO passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs. Butch was born February 7, 1939 in Jerico Springs, MO to Howard Mason and Lois Faye (Albert) Plain. He married Lillie Mae Dark on December 14, 1962 in Council Grove, KS and she survives of the home
Butch attended school in El Dorado Springs. He attended First Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs and was baptized in January 1987. Butch loved to be outside with family and friends and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and trail riding with his wife Lillie. He was very crafty and was able to make almost anything, including knives.
In addition to his wife Lillie he is survived by two children, Royce Ray Plain (Sherry), El Dorado Springs, Lillie Louise Carter (David Lee, Sr.), Lamar, MO; four grandchildren, David Lee Carter, Jr., Donald Carter, Harold Carter, Dawn Crockett; one great-grandchild, Kage Crockett; three sisters, Beverly Nikodim (Joe) El Dorado Springs, Gail Louise Calloway, West Virginia, and Delma Plain, Nevada.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the 1st Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs.

BCMH February Employee of the Month
Daniel Cook is recognized as the Bates County Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for February, 2018. Daniel works as the Information Systems Security Specialist in the IS Department.
His primary duties include network, computer and mobile device security, network infrastructure and server administration, telecommunication systems management, internet connectivity and virtual private network connections, and interfaces between all computer systems used at BCMH.
Daniel performs his duties with professionalism, works as a team player, and is a tremendous asset to the organization.
