Obituary - James K. Buckley

James K. Buckley, age 75 of Clinton, Missouri passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at Westwood Living Center, Clinton, Missouri. Fond memories and Condolences may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com

A Celebration of Life for Jim will be on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:30am at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton with visitation one hour prior. 

A graveside service will be at 2:00pm at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Compassus, Osceola, Missouri and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Jim was born in Springfield, Missouri to Kenneth Buckley and Genevieve Womack. Jim spent much of his life in the Clinton area and attended Clinton High School.

He was a mechanic of all things especially cars and bowling machines. Jim worked for AMF and in the 1970's and 1980's worked at a multitude of bowling ally's all over Missouri but home was Meadowlark Lanes in Clinton, Missouri. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. 

Jim enjoyed solitude but always welcomed family and friends. He was loving and generous and would give his last dime to a stranger in need. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Royals, football, NASCAR and old westerns.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Samuel (Sammy) Buckley, and Kenneth (Shorty) Buckley.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Alice (Cliff) Trager, Parkville, grandchildren, Jordan, Mallory, and Caitlyn, brother, Jerry Buckley, Fair Play, sister, Sara Buckley, Osceola, numerous nieces and nephews and his ex-wife and friend, Phyllis Richey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.



Urich woman seriously injured in Henry County Crash

On 10/9/18 around 8:15am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County responded to a one vehicle accident on Missouri 7 just north of CR NW 401 in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2018 Kia driven by 43 year old Pamela K. Ricketts of Urich, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway down a embankment and struck a concrete culvert before coming to rest.

Pamela K. Ricketts sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Gary's Towing.

Obituary - Marvin Eugene Ford Jr.

Marvin Eugene Ford, Jr., 59, a longtime resident of Sheldon, MO peacefully left this earth at his home with a friend at his side on Sunday, October 7, 2018. Jr. was baptized in his home on April 20, 2018. He was born Marvin Eugene Hunley and later adopted by his loving father Cletus Gene Ford at the age of eight.

Junior is survived by his former wife Karen Jeffries of Sheldon; sister, Kathleen Melloh of Keystone, SD, younger sister, Tammy Larimore, Nevada, MO; younger brother, Darvin Ford, Bellamy, MO; three nieces; two nephews; five great nieces; six great nephews and one great-great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his biological father, Marvin Eugene Hunley; his mother, Julia Ann Ford; and his adopted father, Cletus Gene Ford.

Junior was a loyal and loving brother and friend to us all. He never graduated from high school but was known for his hard work. There never was a job he didn’t feel he could do. He never said no when asked to help someone. He was employed at Sheldon Seed Company in Sheldon, MO with Roy Cunningham as his employer for 27 years. He worked for Murphy Family Ventures for the past seven years. It was a hard decision for him to stop working due to his declining health.

Junior enjoyed spending time with his friends, working in his yard, fishing, and deer hunting. He was active until the day he passed away. Junior and his sisters shared a special bond and a deep love for each other and he will be greatly missed. “He had the most kind and gentle heart any man could have.”

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Jerod Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vernon County Cancer Relief in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.



Obituary - Doris Dickinson

Doris Dickinson, 87 of Butler, Missouri passed away October 8, 2018 surrounded by family. Cremation, with a memorial service to be held 2:00 pm Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Community of Christ Church, 409 W. Dakota St. Butler. Private family inurnment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri.

Doris Elaine Dickinson was born December 18, 1930 in Oroville, Washington to Walter and Marie Worthington Dale. After the death of her mother she moved to British Columbia, Canada to live with her grandmother Hazel Worthington. Doris attended school three years in Canada before moving to Butler, Missouri. She attended Star School and Butler High School. She was united in marriage to Hugh Neil “Bud” Dickinson on August 26, 1948. To this union, five children were born. Doris and Bud moved to Forsyth, Missouri in 1986. While there, Doris was an active member, music coordinator, and pianist for the Branson Community of Christ congregation for six years. She was also a member of the Branson Sweet Adeline’s singing group. When they moved back to Butler in 2002 Doris was a part-time pianist and active member of the Butler Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed playing music for the local nursing homes and senior center. Doris loved her flowers, gardening and her cat Sebastian. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Doris will be forever remembered for her love of music.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, sister Iris Bomstead, and brother Owen Dale. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bud Dickinson of the home in Butler, her children, Cheryl Lindeman and husband David of Lake Tappawingo, MO., Bill Dickinson and wife Mary Dawn of Independence, MO., Brenda Barton and husband Jeff of Raymore, MO., Bob Dickinson of Butler, MO., and Don Dickinson of Kansas City, KS., seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
