Two People Arrested in Vehicle Pursuit in Cass County

Cass Co – On Wednesday May 1, 2019 around 8:30 pm a deputy with the Cass County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Commercial Street and Wall Street, Harrisonville, for a registration violation. When the deputy activated his emergency equipment the driver sped through a gas station parking lot and took off at a high rate of speed north on Commercial Street. The pursuit continued west on Rockhaven Drive and into the City of Peculiar where an occupant of the car threw items out of the vehicle.

Officers with the Peculiar Police Department successfully deployed a tire deflation device as the vehicle exited the city on Peculiar Drive. With the vehicle partially disabled the pursuit continued through rural areas of Peculiar at slow speeds. The driver led deputies to northbound I-49 at North Cass Parkway and continued north. Deputies performed a tactical vehicle intervention maneuver and forced the vehicle off the highway.

The driver, Ashley F. Quigg, 22, Raymore, and a passenger Scott A. Mcroy, 26, Peculiar, were both taken into custody without further incident.

Ashley Quigg has been charged in this incident with Resisting Arrest by Fleeing, E Felony. Her bond was set at $10,000.00 10% cash only.

Scott Mcroy was arrested on three municipal warrants from Belton Police Department. Mcroy was transferred to the Belton City Jail.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Peculiar Police Department, Raymore Police Department, Belton Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Two in custody in connection to Butler City Lake death

The Butler Police Department in Butler, Mo. recovered the body of 69-year-old Cindy McCoy, of Butler, in a vehicle that was pulled from the Butler City Lake on Wednesday, May 1st.

Early Thursday morning, May 2, multiple agencies converged on a house on Center Street in Pleasanton, where one person was detained on a Bates County Circuit Court warrant for arrest in connection with that case.

43-year-old Monte M. McCoy was arrested on a warrant for felony assault in the first degree that states that the defendant (M. McCoy) “knowingly attempted to kill or cause serious physical injury to Cindy Lynn McCoy by striking her with a vehicle, and in the course thereof inflicted serious physical injury.”

Later Thursday morning, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation issued a notice that they were searching for 33-year-old Samantha McCoy as a person of interest in connection with that ongoing investigation.

She was apprehended at just before 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, and detained from Sugar Valley Lake following the receipt of an anonymous tip.

The warrant for her arrest from Bates County, Mo., lists the same charge of felony assault in the first degree and also states that the defendant (S. McCoy) “knowingly attempted to kill or cause serious physical injury to Cindy Lynn McCoy by striking her with a vehicle, and in the course thereof inflicted serious physical injury.”

Both are currently in the custody of the Linn County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition to Bates County, Mo.

May 18-24 Is National Safe Boating Week!

Colonel Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, would like to stress the importance of safe boating by making the public aware of National Safe Boating Week, which takes place May 18-24, 2019. National Safe Boating Week is purposefully scheduled just prior to Memorial Day weekend, which many people consider the kickoff to the boating season. Boaters are encouraged to arrange for a thorough inspection of their boat prior to taking it out on the water this boating season. Weather, time, and other elements may affect the readiness of your boat. The Patrol’s marine operations troopers are available to inspect the required equipment on your boat, at your request, to make sure you’re in compliance with state law. To help facilitate these inspections, marine operations troopers will be at the following boat equipment inspections stations on Saturday, May 18, 2019:

TROOP A --

Smithville Lake ¯ 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Missouri Route W Boat Ramp

Truman Lake ¯ 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Kathy is part of a sewing group that makes and donates lap quilts, head wraps for cancer patients, as well as other projects. Kathy also volunteers to make tray favors for the hospital patients throughout the year.
